The third-person shooter camera (View → Third-Person Shooter Camera, AlchemyTPSCamera) doesn't work while seated. The biggest use case is vehicles: driving or flying with the camera steered by the mouse around the avatar/vehicle.

Want

  • TPS camera usable while sitting on an object, especially vehicles.
  • The camera should orbit the vehicle (or its root prim), not the avatar's seat position, so it doesn't swing around with the seat offset.
  • Controls: when seated with controls taken (llTakeControls), WASD and arrows must still go to the vehicle script, exactly as now. The mouse only steers the camera, and left-click fires only when the script took the left-mouse control (as in mouselook).
  • Respect the sim/script camera constraints and llSetCameraParams from the vehicle script. If a script forces camera params, decide on a policy: yield to the script, or offer an override setting.

Notes

  • Today the mode is either disabled or behaves wrongly when seated (to confirm which during implementation).
  • Check the transitions: standing up while in TPS mode, sitting down while in TPS mode, and region crossings while seated.
