Material decode at ray-traced hits is a separate copy of the raster shade() path that has drifted: RT terrain hits never use the terrain bake and get no hex tiling, so terrain looks different in reflections and GI.
Found by the #1039 design survey (copies of the same code that have drifted apart). The shared walk library planned as #1039 step M0 removes the duplicate.
