Scope: Delete the
sGLTextureType/sGLAddressModetables,refreshState,*Fast. The backend becomes mandatory.Prereq: C2, C4
Acceptance: UI identical
Risk: med
Shared acceptance baseline: links; logs in under VK and renders prims/mesh/rigged/terrain/water/sky/particles; click-select object/avatar/attachment; region crossing + teleport; no

Status check (verification sweep): partly done. LLRender/LLTexUnit are backend-only (
96fa180da0), and the GL arms are dropped from fonts (a9de1d6873) and from llrender2dutils/llrendersphere (de4c1d6ae2). sGLAddressMode is gone. Remaining: sGLTextureType (1 file) and refreshState (2 files).Verified against forgejo/main: PARTIAL, leaving open. Done: sGLTextureType/sGLAddressMode tables, refreshState and the Fast bind variants are gone. Remaining: the backend is still optional (LLRender::sBackend null-checked ~48+ places; 81 refs in llrender/llrender.cpp, e.g. :74,91,134; also llgl.cpp:165, lllocalcliprect.cpp, llfloater.cpp, lldynamictexture.cpp:~166); prereq C4 (LLGLS scopes) is not done.
Pushed to main at
07c8a3ac73. GL arms stripped;LLRenderalways has a backend (a no-op backend until Vulkan installs its own).Shipped in a published release and tested; closing (testing-lane sweep 2026-10-11).
