Snapshots: configurable file naming (e.g. Snapshot_123 instead of a long timestamp) #788

Snapshots saved to disk are always named <BaseName>_YYYY-MM-DD_HHMMSSNN.<ext> (e.g. Snapshot_2026-10-15_17301201.png). The base name comes from the per-account SnapshotBaseName (set to whatever you typed the first time you chose "Save As"), but the date/time stamp is always appended (LLViewerWindow::saveImageLocal, llviewerwindow.cpp ~5440: now.toLocalDateString("_%Y-%m-%d_%H%M%S") + a 2-digit counter). Users want short names such as Snapshot_123.

Proposal

A filename pattern setting with a few tokens, shown with a live example in the Save-to-disk snapshot options (and the Preferences snapshot/paths section):

  • {name} -- the base name (today's SnapshotBaseName)
  • {n} / {n:3} -- an incrementing counter (optionally zero-padded); the next free number in the folder (per-account counter that skips existing files)
  • {date} {time} / or strftime-style {%Y-%m-%d} -- date/time pieces
  • {region} -- region name (optional), {w}x{h} -- size
Presets: "Name + date and time" (current default), "Name + number" ({name}_{n} -> Snapshot_123), "Name + date", "Custom...".

Rules

  • Never overwrite: if the pattern resolves to an existing file, bump the counter (or append _2) like today's search loop.
  • Invalid filename characters from tokens (region names) are sanitised.
  • Default unchanged for existing users unless they pick a new pattern.
  • Same pattern for 360 snapshots and any batch/burst saves.
