Exploratory ticket: let people shape the simulated snow into things (a snowman, a snowball, a fort wall), building on the local snow simulation from the weather work (#783).

The core problem: other people need to see it

Snow depth is simulated per viewer, so a shape moulded into one viewer's snow map is invisible to everyone else. Anything meant to be shared probably has to become a real in-world object:

  • Rez an object (mesh or prims) from what was built, so every viewer sees it, Slipstream or not. It needs rez rights on the parcel, counts against land impact, and is owned by the builder.
  • Viewer-to-viewer only (like pose sharing): Slipstream users see the shape, other viewers see nothing. Cheaper, but invisible to most people.

Questions to answer

  • Interaction: roll a snowball by walking it through snow (it grows and takes depth out of the snow map), stack balls, sculpt with a brush tool, or pick from presets?
  • The object: a generated mesh (needs an upload, which costs L$) vs prims, or a pre-made library item (snowball / snowman parts) placed and scaled. Prims or a pre-made item avoid upload costs.
  • Snow bookkeeping: taking snow out of the local snow map where it was gathered, and how the rezzed object takes local snow and melt (does it shrink as the weather warms, temp-on-rez cleanup?).
  • Permissions and griefing: parcel rez rights, object return, temp vs permanent objects.
  • Interaction with weather sync: if parcel weather becomes shared, could the moulded shapes sync the same way?

No implementation yet; this ticket collects the design.
