Description

on login i get a cannot create requested inventory error and the alpha on my avatar breaks.. its somewhat of a customized alpha. i use the snokra snake avatar which has been converted to BOM how ever it still requires an alpha for the hair base and stuff sense its a non standard mesh. and thats what breaks. i have to detach it and reattach it and than its fine until i log in again. this dosent happen on any other viewer. i primarily use firestorm which has never had the issue. and if i detach the alpha it seems to also work but than people on other viewers will see my avatar as broken. so i have so reattach it

Reproduction steps

just by logging in i get the error it happens every time.. how ever it may be very specific to the way my avatar is made i am unsure

to fix i have to detach and reattach it and than its fine

Thanks for the detailed report! It points us at the cause.

The "Cannot create requested inventory" message comes from the Second Life server: it rejected an inventory request our viewer sent at login. At login the viewer rebuilds your worn outfit by creating links in your Current Outfit folder. It looks like the link for your custom alpha is the one being rejected, so the alpha never gets applied and the body shows through. Re-attaching it creates the link properly, which is why that fixes it until the next login.

To find out exactly which request fails and why, could you send us a log from a session where it's happening?

  1. Log in as usual and wait for the "Cannot create requested inventory" error.
  2. Leave the viewer open, then go to Help > Report Bug. Make sure attach log is ticked, and mention #461 in the description.
  3. If you can, also tell us the alpha item's name and whether it's no-copy or no-modify (right-click it in your inventory > Properties).

That should show us exactly what goes wrong.

Status update (owner retest): the server error ("Cannot create requested inventory") no longer happens. A related issue remains: sometimes the custom alpha still isn't applied after login, with no error at all. Keeping this open to track that intermittent case.

i am getting the cannot create requested inventory error on every login again but no alpha breaking and occasionally one of my RLV things keeps getting resent to me on login the voidFix for the void form item i am unsure if they are related but both seem to happen on login and are inventory related

Regression report (2026-10-11): the "Cannot create requested inventory" error is back on every login, and an RLV item keeps being re-sent at login. Being investigated.

Root cause found and fixed: the friend calling-card sync ran during the inventory skeleton load and sent a calling card create with no parent folder, which the server refused on every login. Confirmed: no refused creates at login and Calling Cards syncs. Closes when the next beta ships.
